The journey begins in Paris. You visit the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre with the Mona Lisa and the Winged Victory, and stroll the streets over wine and a croissant. If time allows, visit the Palace of Versailles.
Belgium & the Netherlands
In Belgium, you take in the quiet grandeur of Brussels' Grand Place, the Town Hall and the Manneken Pis statue, then Bruges — often called the "Venice of the North" — with its canals among old houses. Next is the Netherlands: cycling or boating along Amsterdam's UNESCO-listed canals, and a visit to the Zaanse Schans windmill village.
Germany
In Berlin, you visit the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag and remnants of the Berlin Wall — the city's historic landmarks. In the evening, an old beer hall with grilled sausage is a fine way to sense local life.
Czech Republic
Prague welcomes you with the Charles Bridge — built in the 14th century, 516 metres long, lined with statues of saints — at its best early in the morning before the crowds. You also visit Prague Castle on the hill and the Old Town Square with its ancient astronomical clock.
Austria
Vienna is a city of music, where Mozart, Beethoven and Strauss once lived. You visit St. Stephen's Cathedral with its colourful roof, the royal Schönbrunn Palace, and if you like, stop at an old Viennese café for a cup of coffee.
Italy
The final leg brings you to Italy. In Venice, you ride a gondola under the Bridge of Sighs, stroll St. Mark's Square and the Doge's Palace. Then comes Milan, with its marble Duomo and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.
