If Western Europe is known for its elegance, Central Europe carries the quieter notes of history — old castles and ancient cities. This eleven-day journey connects the two, from Germany through the Czech Republic and Austria to Switzerland, ending in Paris.

Germany

The journey begins in Frankfurt — Europe's financial centre. You visit Heidelberg Castle on the Neckar River, then head down to Munich and Marienplatz. The highlight of this leg is Neuschwanstein Castle, set on a mountaintop among pine forests — the inspiration for the castles in Disney films.

Austria & the Czech Republic

Crossing into Austria, the group stops in the town of Innsbruck at the foot of the Alps, with its Golden Roof. Next comes Salzburg — the birthplace of Mozart — and Vienna, with its palaces and opera house. In the Czech Republic, Prague welcomes you with the Charles Bridge, the Old Town Square with its astronomical clock, and the scent of Trdelník pastry through the streets.

Switzerland

The group turns toward Switzerland. In Lucerne, the wooden Kapellbrücke bridge reflects on the blue lake, beside the Lion Monument carved into the rock. The high point is standing on Jungfraujoch — the "Top of Europe" — amid the snow.

France

From Basel (Switzerland), a TGV train brings you to Paris in just a few hours. Paris appears with the Eiffel Tower, the Sacré-Cœur on Montmartre and the Louvre. A dinner cruise on the Seine is a fine way to close the five-country journey.
